Poster for "Springsteen & I" to be shown on Monday at Monmouth University
"Springsteen & I," the fam-focused documentary that includes interviews and excerpts from Bruce fans around the globe, will finally be shown in Monmouth County, where New Jersey's most famous rocker was born and still resides.
The showing at the Pollak Theatre at Monmouth University in West Long Branch will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, which happens to be Bruce's 64th birthday. The screening is a benefit for the Friends of the Bruce Springsteen Special Collection and Monmouth University.
In addition to insights from fans from across the globe, the film contains live footage from Springsteen's personal archive, including performance footage from last year's Hyde Park concert in London with the E Street Band (the infamous concert where authorities pulled the plug on Springsteen and special guest Paul McCartney because they went past curfew).
The Friends of the Special Collection are also planning a few extra "Happy Birthday Bruce" activities that will involve the entire audience, shortly before the film begins. Their press release states: "Suffice it to say that if you're a Springsteen fan and can make it to this event, you'll be glad you were there."
